Hey everyone!
It’s been a pretty crazy semester, so here’s a little update for you all: I’m working on a skincare routine, I’m trying to workout but I get a little bogged down, classes are normal, and I’m ready to be done with the semester.
What? That’s not good enough for you? Fine. I guess I can give a little bit more update than that.
Well, to start off with, I’m working on getting into the Professional Education program. Once I get into this, I’ll be able to take 300 and 400 level education courses to help prepare me to be a future educator. It’s a lot of work, but I’ve gotten most of it done. I just have to revise something and finish this semester strong! However, I won’t find out about this until after the semester is over. This wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that I scheduled classes today. One of my advisors basically suggested to make a schedule like you wouldn’t get in, so that’s what I had to do. Once I find out if I’m in or not, I can go in and add/drop certain classes. But it’s a lot of stress and a hassle for me.
So last year, I applied for the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship. I didn’t get it, so I applied again this year. I found out in January that I was once again a finalist. I had an interview, and this time I had to plan how I would teach a certain lesson (I chose the branches of government and really thought my activity was cool). In that original email, they told me there was an interview packet attached. Well, it wasn’t. Then, four minutes later, I got another email saying that they forgot to attach the packet so it was attached to THAT email. Guess what? It wasn’t. So then I got a THIRD email and the packet was finally attached. (If that’s not a metaphor for this semester, then I don’t know what is). They told me I was going to hear either way by April 1, 2017 (no that’s not a typo on my end). As of right now, I have not gotten any word from them.
Now for some good news:
I posted about two months ago about my amazing roommate. Well, we decided we wanted to live together again next year, but we were both tired of living in the dorms. So we started looking at apartments. We went and visited the ones that were considered “on-campus” and we both applied for them. We requested each other as roommates and paid the deposits. This also happened in early January, and we heard back over Spring Break. We are officially approved to live in those apartments for next year! We’re both really excited about it! We’ve already started talking about decorating and food and everything. I’ve been looking into getting a projector, and I think that would be something really cool to have in our apartment!
I am also applying for another scholarship. This one is $2,000. I’m currently waiting on some letters of recommendation, but I won’t hear about that one for a while. I’ll let you know what happens with that in July when I find out about it.
Although I am currently Vice President of History Club, I am not seeking the same position next year. Instead, I am planning on running for president! I have a lot of good ideas, and I think I could do it. The election is at the end of this month, but I’m pretty confident about it. It will be such a great opportunity for me if I get it!
I’m also applying for a second job. I’m hoping to be a tour guide. I actually had an interview for it today. It may sound weird, but that has been something I have wanted to do since I came to college. I’m leaping at this chance!
I know when I did a life update last year, I talked about what was going on in the summer as well. Honestly, I don’t know yet what my summer will hold. I might be working at my job on campus, or I might get a part-time job when I’m home. I plan to travel, even if it’s just around the state. While I might not be at an internship every day like I was last summer, I definitely plan to keep busy. Thanks to what I did last summer, I don’t have to completely reorganize my entire bedroom. However, one thing I want to do for sure is revamp my wardrobe a little bit. I want to get rid of some clothes that I no longer wear or are in my style, whether that’s through donation or selling them. I also want to be able to make a lot of decorations for the apartment, and do other projects that I may not have gotten to before. I also plan to continue to work out, whether it’s swimming, bike riding, or something else. I will also be taking a class this summer, so that will definitely help me stay busy.
I think those are the main things going on right now. It’s crazy that in about a month’s time, I’ll officially be halfway done with my undergrad. But, that’s what my life is looking like right now!
Let me know if you have any thoughts or comments!
Love,
Kim ♥
Update: I did not get the scholarship. However, I am not that upset about it. At least I have an answer now.
