Welcome Back

It is definitely a little difficult for me this week to try to get back into things. I got back from my trip late Sunday night, and was immediately forced to be thrown back into a routine.

Monday morning I had to be at work pretty early. I was tired from flying in and from my trip. So to be back really solidified that the summer was over.

But at the same time, it was so familiar to be back. I’m at the same school in the same classroom teaching the same subject. My room was mostly set up. I obviously have to plan my lessons and adapt from what I have from last year, but I can pull from others and continue to improve my teaching.

Now I know everyone is not in the same boat as me. I know a couple of people who are in the same position as me and going into their second year of teaching. But a few of them are starting at a different school, so for them it’s like starting all over again.

Obviously, a big thing I have focused on during the summer is working on my goals. I’ve accomplished a lot, but I still have a lot I can and want to do before the year is up. I’m still working on those, but I also know that that work is going to slow down as I begin teaching again.

I am excited for the new school year though. I have a new group of students that I get to meet and learn and teach. I also hope that some of my students from last year are staying at the same school and will come say hello to me.

I’m still tired and I know it’s going to be a long week for me with meetings and things. But while it is a little strange to be back to work, it is also nice and equally familiar.
